About IJM
International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to ensure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to promote functioning public justice systems.
IJM is composed of attorneys, social workers, criminal investigators and support staff. IJM carefully investigates situations of abuse and partners with local officials to free victims from their immediate danger. After the victims have been freed, IJM addresses the systemic problem by prosecuting the perpetrators in the local court system, and helps the victims adjust to their freedom by facilitating aftercare for the victims. Finally, IJM works for structural transformation in affected societies by training local officials and working with community members to prevent future abuses from occurring.
